Description
Bring fun and excitement to your classroom with this I Spy game! This game is perfect for practicing expressive language, expressive vocabulary, and receptive language. With 6 unique scenes, your students can practice targeted vocabulary and practice identifying items by feature, function, or class.
These I Spy games will expand and practice your students’ language skills in expressive vocabulary, receptive language, using nouns and verbs, labeling items and much more! Each of the 6 I Spy themes comes with a targeted sheet that identifies the nouns, verbs, colors, features, functions, categories in the picture.
Included in this I Spy resource:
- 6 scenes with targeted vocabulary included, differentiated by difficulty. (farm, bedroom, backyard, kitchen, classroom, autumn scene). *The autumn scene is available free in my resource library.
- A vocabulary sheet for each scene of all the vocabulary in the picture including nouns, verbs, colors, features, functions, and categories
- A cheat sheet for each scene of potential targets or questions to address in the game (e.g., I spy something that barks; I spy something that’s green)
This I Spy resource provides you with a ready-made activity to pull out as a filler to work on language skills where the key elements for commenting, object identification and description are already identified for you within a contained picture (leading to easier prompting by you for language because of a common picture and less guessing).
Using this I Spy resource is easy! It will work in face-to-face online distance learning or in the classroom as a group or individual activity. And your students will think it’s “just” a game of I Spy.

What teachers are saying about this I Spy game…
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ “This is a great resource to have. It provides the pictures and pages of ideas with what to ask your students. It has you covered in language strand areas!” – Marcela F.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ “These have been a huge time saver and have served as a great resource for my students on the autism spectrum to answer questions, ask questions and to form more syntactically correct sentences.” – Joyce G.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ “I displayed a slide to my virtual students and we played “I Spy.” It gave my students a chance to ask questions giving clues, while others used those clues to find the object and respond. My intention was student interaction. A bonus was the use of language skills in communicating with one another. So happy with this resource. Thank you!!” – Cool Cats
