If you work in early childhood in preschool or kindergarten, especially those with special needs or in special education, you know that you can never have enough tasks to practice basic skills.
With these engaging file folder activities, students practice matching by color, by simple shapes and by more complex details all with a transportation theme. Keep your students engaged and work on independence with simple matching of monster trucks, food trucks, hot air balloons and even building with simple shapes.

FEATURES
These tasks are specifically designed to work in independent work systems with the following characteristics.
- Each task has a clear beginning and end. Students can tell when they have finished a task because the pieces will be gone.
- Tasks are designed (with the help of Velcro) to stay together when the student finishes and put them in the finished basket. This keeps them from trying to fix them when tasks come apart and makes it easy to check them after to make sure the students complete them correctly.
- I have tried to create tasks that are easily adapted for individual needs. For instance, a file folder could be made from just one page instead of 2 to allow new users to practice with fewer choices. For instance, make the hot air balloons file folder with just 5 balloons instead of 10.
- The tasks are visually clear and when something seemed like it might be confusing, I chose to remove the confusing element to increase the students’ abilities to do it independently.
- Finally, the tasks are designed to be highly visually engaging and capitalize on the visual discrimination skills that are often a strength for students with autism.
