Description
Have you ever wanted a quick way to let families know about small (or not so small) accomplishments their child has made? Perhaps he played at recess with a friend. Or she helped a co-worker on the job. Or used a 3-word sentence. Or just mastered a step in one of his instructional programs.
For students with special needs, and particularly those with severe disabilities, teachers don’t often get to report academic gains or progress to families. This set of positive notes home are designed to focus on the types of positive progress that are important to celebrate but might be overlooked in general home notes for students with disabilities. A positive note home can make a world of difference in your classroom. Your students will enjoy taking home an achievement certificate to share with their family.
What’s included in this positive note home set?
- 42 different success slips for parent communication
- 36 different achievement certificates – Some are global (e.g., “I did it!”) and some are more specific “I zipped my coat”).
- Recipe card holder dividers for the 6 categories included
- Video on how to print in 3 different sizes
Small wins are mighty for these students and important to send in a positive note home. The notes are designed to be easy to send home and displayed prominently so the parents will see them as well. Plus, your students will LOVE showing off their positive note and achievement certificates.
Success Slips are great to grab at the last minute! You can hang them on your student’s backpack or put them in their communication notebook to let their parents know that their child:
✅ mastered a step toward a goal today
✅ did their job independently
✅ washed their hands on their own
✅ spoke in full sentences
✅ said a new word
✅ or shared with a friend….and more
Many of our students in special ed. can’t communicate these experiences on their own. A positive note home gives parents an opportunity to celebrate the victories with their child and recognize the progress they are making. ❤️
Rather than being a daily report of progress, these positive notes are designed as something special to send home to celebrate a student’s accomplishment. They can serve as a way for a student (who may have limited verbal skills to tell a parent their achievement) to brag to their parents. And for you, as the teacher, to brag about them too.
