WHAT’S INCLUDED?

Sales Flyers: Choose from 2 differentiated sporting goods store flyers that are identical except for prices. One has prices with no change, and one has prices with change.

Shopping Math Task Cards: There are 28 task cards. All the task cards can be used with either of the differentiated flyers. Task cards are differentiated and include:

  • 10 cards with a picture cue requiring writing the price of a single item from a flyer
  • 10 cards with no picture cue writing the price of a single item from a flyer
  • 8 cards writing a check to make a single-item purchase.

Functional Academic Worksheets:

  • 2 functional reading worksheets requiring students to answer basic questions about the shopping flier. There are 2 versions of each worksheet-one with a word bank and one without.
  • 5 functional math word problem worksheets with check writing. Students determine the money needed to purchase 2 to 3 items based on the word problem and sales flyers. Then they must write a check for the purchase amount and determine a new balance in the checkbook register.
  • 5 cash functional math word problem worksheets. Students must determine the money needed to purchase 2 to 3 items based on the word problem and flyer. Then they circle the bills that could be used and determine the amount of change that would be received.
  • 1 debit card functional math worksheet. Students are given a debit card balance and asked if they can purchase specific items from the sporting goods store.

Answer keys are included

Put the sales flyers in a page protector, print out the worksheets, and either cut out the task cards for single use or put them in a photo album or laminate for re-use.
